Early afternoon on mothers day Botsford Fire was notified of an automatic alarm coming from the large shed that stores garbage waiting to be transported by Waste Management. Engine 51 arrived with heavy smoke pushing from the building. Immediately a recall was put out for a working fire and all remaining companies in town responded. Stepney stood by for Botsford.  Crews forced a door to gain entry to find heavy fire on a pile of garbage. Multiple lines were stretched and heavy equipment was used to break up the piles.


 
   
   
Afternoon Brush Fire

Shortly after the Green Ribbon Ride passed by the station Botsford was requested to respond to Huntingtown Rd for a brush fire. Arriving crews found a 20' x 30' area burning. The fire was quickly extinguished to prevent from any further spreading.


 
   
   
Botsford Fire Carnival

Botsford Fire Rescue sponsored its annual carnival located at Newtown High School this past week. It ran Thur. - Sat. The membership of the department decided this year that between the hours of 2 - 5 pm they would give free wristbands to the children and family's of Newtown.

St. Pattys Day MVA

Engine 51 responded to the area of Great Ring Rd & High Rock for the reported car into a building. Arriving units found that a car had missed a hard corner and left the roadway striking an barn built in the 1800's. The structure had structural damage and due to the location of the barn to the road crews had to call in a loader to knock the remaining over preventing it to further fall into the roadway.

Botsford was requested to respond to a reported car vs. barn. Arriving units found that a car had missed the turn on the road and continued straight into a early built barn. Due to the location of the incident and structure to the roadway after the car was removed crews had to request a heavy loader to push the building over preventing it from further falling into the roadway.

Hydrants on Rt. 25 in Botsford First Due

As you drive down Rt. 25 in the Botsford Response district you will notice that the road is all cut up and new hydrants have appeared. In the next few months those hydrants will be functional and begin protecting the homes and shops. One hydrant is located in the front lot of our Dept.


 
Botsford responds to Sandy Hook for the structure fire

Late Friday night all five companies in town responded to the Lake View section of Sandy Hook for a reported fully involved structure fire with reports of possible occupants still in the building. Arriving officers reported that the house was fully involved with reports of all occupants now out of the house. As the apparatus arrived the operation turned into a defensive attack to protect the exposure on the neighboring house. Engine 51 set up a draft site on the local private beach on Lake Zoar.Crews cleared the call around 01:30


 
   
   
Sprinkler head gives out on Cold Night

Members responded to a report of water leaking into a local store located in Sand Hill Plaza Engine 51 responded. After investigation units found that during the extreme cold a sprinkler head located in the front over hang of the plaza. Crews set up a tarp to direct the water out of the build and into the parking lot.


 
   
   
Car vs. Tree on Toddy Hill

Early afternoon Botsford Fire Rescue was requested to respond to the area of Toddy Hill and Settlers Ln. Arriving units had one car into a tree with one injuries. EMS treated and transported to Danbury Hospital. Engine 51 applied speedy dry to the fluid leak and then units cleared.


 
Trailer Home up in flames

Late morning Botsford Fire was call the the trailer park located right next door the the fire house for a reported fire. As members arrived to pick up apparatus they noticed a large dark plume of smoke from the park. When units arrived the trailer was fully engulfed with fire turning the fire into a defensive attack and protect the trailers surrounding the home. All five companies in town responded along with Stepney as the RIT team.


 
Rt.25 Closed on Christmas Day

A one car MVA caused Rt.25 to be closed Christmas Day right in front of Botsford's Fire House. The road was closed at 6am that morning and crews worked for roughly 12 hours before the road could be re opened.
