Botsford Fire & Rescue would like to announce that it has just been awarded a grant from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). The grant is approximately $100,000.00 and was applied for to upgrade our portable radios which the department uses to communicate both between its members, the other departments, and our 911 communication center in town. These radios are designed for easier use while wearing the protective equipment required to fight fires and will also enable us to communicate with several surrounding towns which the department has mutual aid agreements where we respond with our tanker or as RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) when there is a confirmed structure fire.
